I would like to spend some words about this incredible painting: what makes this masterpiece so unique is the particular choice of the painter Raphael to depict the Virgin sitting directly on the ground instead of placing her on a heavenly throne.

Furthermore, the round-format style was popular in Florentine painting and the influence of the Florentine masters Michelangelo and Leonardo is also apparent in the work.

The reverse of the coin shows Mary, Jesus and John the Baptist.
With one hand John the Baptist and the baby Jesus are holding a cross and all three figures are looking at the cross. Over their heads we can see a gentle halo.
On the top of the reverse, the inscription: “ALBA MADONNA”, the name of the coin. On the bottom part, the inscription “RAPHAEL”, the name of the Italian painter.

The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions “NIUE”, the issuing country, “2017”, the year of issue, “10 DOLLARS”, the face value, “2 OZ 999 SILVER”, the weight of the coin and the fineness of the silver and “ELIZABETH II”, the name of the Queen.

This coin has impressive shiny colors and a limited mintage of only 999 pieces worldwide.
