I'm talking about the extraordinary real insert of the Kapton thermal protection for the Apollo 11 that is on its surface!

The Reverse

The reverse of this incredible coin features a beautiful and colored image of the Apollo 11 command module on the Moon, over a background with stars and our wonderful earth. On the bottom part, we find the amazing Kapton foil insert and the inscription: “1969-2019” – the year of the mission and the year of issue. All around the coin, the inscription: “THIS KAPTON FOIL PROVIDED THERMAL PROTECTION FOR THE APOLLO 11 COMMAND MODULE ON ITS FLIGHT TO THE MOON AND BACK”.

The Obverse

Passing to the obverse of the coin we find the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II” – The name of the Queen, “COOK ISLANDS” – the issuing country and “20 DOLLARS” – the face value.
