The reverse of the coin features the gargoyle called DECAY with the Washington National Cathedral in the background. Decay is one of 112 gargoyles that adorn the National Cathedral and was installed in the 1960s. Decay is widely considered the "scariest" gargoyle on the Cathedral. On top of the reverse, the inscription: "Gargoyles & Grotesques" – the name of the series.
