The coin is shaped like a bottle gourd, considered to bring good luck and blessings to those who carry them, even today. Gourds are also thought to absorb negative energy and protect their owners from evil. The surface of these gourds was sometimes decorated with symbols and stories, as displayed in this beautiful coin. The reverse of the coin depicts a dragon, commonly associated with wisdom in Chinese culture, surrounded by ornaments. The obverse of the coin features an intricate design and the Coat of Arms of Chad with the inscriptions: "REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD" – the country of issue, "2023" – the year of issue and "5000 FRANCS CFA" – the face value. This coin is struck in a minting technique called "Bi-Metal Plus", combining 2 oz of Copper within two layers of Silver, resulting in a super High Relief.
