The image of the Eight Dragon Buddha is often seen as a symbol of protection and guidance on the path to spiritual enlightenment, as well as material abundance, since the number Eight stands for richness. The obverse of the coin features the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Chad and the inscriptions: "5000 FRANCS CFA" – the face value and "1 OZ" – the weight of the coin, and "999Ag" – the fineness of Silver.
