The reverse of the coin depicts the great David Livingstone, a missionary and a legendary explorer of the African continent, who was to become one of the most popular national heroes of Britain in the late 19th century. This relief engraved, antique-finished coin, shows an artists' interpretation of David Livingstone standing together with his exploration entourage, in front of the breathtakingly beautiful Victoria Falls. On the top of the reverse, the inscription: "David Livingstone". On the bottom, the inscription: "2 Oz 999 FINE SILVER" (the weight and the fineness of Silver). The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. All around, the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II", "NIUE" (issuer), "FIVE DOLLARS" (face value), "2016" (year of issue).
