This stunning coin is the worlds first ever two tone gold gilded coin. On top of this it marks the beginning of a new era for New Zealand Mint, being the first rectangular coin they have produced.
The reverse features blossoming peonies in two-tone gold gilding. The peony is a traditional floral symbol also known as the "flower of riches and honour". The obverse of the coin features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, sovereign of the Commonwealth and Niue, along with the year of issue (2009) and the denomination of $2.
Each coin is presented in a striking presentation stand. This is fashioned in an antique Chinese style and is enclosed in a delightful gift box.
