COLLECTION MONDAY: Shrek Series

“I Thought love was only true in fairy tales…. Then I saw your face, now I’m a believer!”.

Who is not familiar with this song from the Shrek’s movie?!

Believe it or not, it has been 20 years since we went to the theatre with our parents or children or friends to watch the first movie in the Shrek saga! Yep, you heard it right! The first Shrek movie was released in 2001! 

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this famous franchise by Dream Works, a fantastic collection of coins has been released this year. 

So far the collection is made up of 4 shaped Silver coins: Shrek, Donkey, Puss in Boots and Gingerbread Man. Each coin weights 1 Oz and come in a shaped capsule and themed box, along with a Numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The coins in this collection have a bright coloration and portray the characters of the movie in their most famous poses.

So far my favorite is “Puss in Boots”. I love that he is portrayed almost like a superhero and curling his whiskers, a gesture that makes him look sharp and reflects his personality and sense of humor. 

At this point, I wonder: where is Fiona?! I hope the next coin in this series will be dedicated to her.
