LUNAR TIGER Review: 1 Oz Silver Coin 1$ Niue 2022
Hello friends, Ilaria here, welcome back to Power Coin!
CHINESE OR LUNAR NEW YEAR
We have officially entered the year 2022, but the Chinese or Lunar New Year, which will begin on 1 February, is still two weeks away.
It is referred to as "Chinese" New Year because it marks the start of a new year according to the traditional Chinese calendar; it is also referred to as "Lunar" New Year because it begins with the new moon that appears between January 21 and February 20.
In Chinese tradition, the New Year also symbolizes the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Additionally, the Chinese Horoscope will soon see a shift of ruling animal: the Tiger will shortly replace the strong metal element of the Ox and the Rat of the previous two years.
For this reason, today I want to talk with you about a coin that is both a tribute to the mighty king of the beasts and a celebration of the tiger's lunar year.
LUNAR TIGER - The ReverseThis beautiful coin measures 38.60 mm in diameter and weighs 1 Oz. There are only 888 pieces available! The coin has Proof quality and comes in a capsule. The reverse features a stunning relief depiction of a Tiger. The tiger is surrounded by bamboo and appears to be peering at something, possibly its prey. The tiger's fur is represented with simple yet elegant black lines. There are no inscriptions on the reverse, except the Chinese symbol meaning tiger on the right. |
LUNAR TIGER - The Obverse and the CaseThe effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and certain issue details are included on the obverse of the coin, which is also Proof grade. The coin comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity and is housed in an exquisite black container with a hinged top. The case comes in a themed package with a lovely image of a tiger and is wrapped in black linen. I appreciate how the image on the front of the box differs from the image on the back: this allows you to open the case and be startled! |
YEAR OF THE TIGER
On a 12-year cycle, if you were born in 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, and so on, you were born under the sign of the tiger and are likely courageous, competitive, and confident. This is your year to shine, and we wish you nothing but success and good health.
This coin, as well as others commemorating the Tiger Year, can be found on our website.
