Power Coin “MICROPUZZLE TREASURES” series

“Micropuzzle Treasures” is one of the most successful coin series launched by Power Coin.

The success of this series can be attributed to its uniqueness—no one has previously produced a micropuzzle on a coin—as well as to its flawless execution and accurate research and replication of some of the most stunning artworks from various ages.

The first coin in the series, "Starry Night," opened the way for a string of award-winning coins, including "Two Sisters on the Terrace," "Reverie," "Couple under One Umbrella," and the most recent release, "Doni Tondo", which replicates one of Michelangelo Buonarroti's most well-known works of art.

DONI TONDO by Michelangelo

“Doni Tondo” is a panel painting created by Michelangelo between 1504 and 1507. Now in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy, and still in its original frame, the Doni Tondo was probably commissioned by Agnolo Doni to honor his union with Maddalena Strozzi, a member of a prominent Tuscan family. The painting is in the form of a tondo, meaning “round” in Italian.

The Doni Tondo portrays the Holy Family with child Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, in the foreground. Mary is the most prominent figure in the composition, taking up much of the center of the image. There is s debate as to whether Mary is receiving the Child from Joseph or vice versa.

In the middle-ground of the painting, between the Holy Family and the background, Saint John the Baptist is represented. Saint John is the patron of Florence and is very commonly included in Florentine works depicting the Madonna and Child.  The painting also includes five nude male figures in the background, whose meaning and function are subject to much speculation and debate.

DONI TONDO – The coin

The fifth and final coin in the “Micropuzzle Treasures” series features Michlenagelo's stunning work of art as its subject. The coin is only restricted to 499 pieces and has a 65 mm diameter. It is made of 3 Oz (93.3 g) of .999 fine Silver. The coin has Proof quality and a beautiful coloration that is true to the original painting.

Like the other coins in the series, Dono Tondi features three levels in relief: the base, the puzzle and the missing pieces of the puzzle, that lay on top of it. The over 260 puzzle pieces are all minted in Smartminting High Relief, giving the design a very realistic appearance. On the left side of the reverse, you can see the coin's issue year, 2023.

The obverse of the coin features the Coat of Arms of Palau, framed by a lovely ornate micropuzzle pattern. The series name, "MICROPUZZLE TREASURES," the issuing nation, "REPUBLIC OF PALAU," and the face value, "$20," are all inscribed around the obverse. Each coin is individually numbered on the edge.

The coin is completed by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity that looks like a museum ticket and a luxury case housed inside a themed box with a detail of the Doni Tondo painting.
