ARCHAEOPTERYX Prehistoric World 1 Oz Silver Coin 1$ Niue 2023

This wonderful coin is dedicated to the Archaeopteryx: an extinct genus of small, feathered dinosaurs that lived during the Late Jurassic period. It is considered to be a link between non-avian dinosaurs and modern birds. Archaeopteryx had both reptilian and bird-like characteristics, such as feathers, wings, and a wishbone, but also had teeth, a long bony tail, and claws on its wings! At the bottom of the reverse, it is also reported the inscription: "ARCHAEOPTERYX" - the name of the coin. The obverse of the coin depicts the Public Seal of Niue surrounded by the skeleton of the creature. The obverse is completed by the inscriptions: "1 DOLLAR" – the face value, "2023" - the year of issue, and "PREHISTORIC WORLD" – the name of the series.
