This original Silver coin, designed by the Portuguese designer and illustrator Henrique Cayatte, highlights and celebrates 50 years of democracy. April 25th Revolution, the nearly bloodless revolution known as the Carnation Revolution, is a very important date for the Portuguese, because it introduced a new Constitution, the end of Portuguese colonialism, as well as civil liberties which had previously been banned. The coin has a Proof Quality and comes in a case, along with the Certificate of Authenticity. Limited mintage of 3950 pieces worldwide.

The reverse of the coin features 50 non-concentric circles which symbolize unique trajectories of freedom, representing ideas born each year since the April 25th Revolution. The obverse of the coin features a central carnation, along with the inscriptions: "PORTUGAL" – the issuing country, "25.04.1974" – the date of the Carnation Revolution, and "25.04.2024" – the date of the 50th anniversary, as well as the year of issue. All around the obverse, the inscriptions: "Esta é a madrugada que eu esperava" – a famous line of a poetry, "in «O Nome das Coisas», Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen" – the title of the poetry and the name of the poetess, "CASA DA MOEDA" – the name of the mint, and "DES. HENRIQUE CAYATTE" – the name of the designer.
