The reverse of the coin depicts Juan Bautista Azopardo, an Argentine naval officer who played a significant role in the country's struggle for independence. During the Argentine War of Independence, Azopardo switched sides and joined the patriot forces fighting for independence from Spain. He played an important role in the naval battles of the time, commanding various ships and leading successful attacks against Spanish forces. The design also reports the inscriptions: "JUAN BAUTISTA AZOPARDO"- the name of the coin and the issuing country, "10 EURO" - the face value and "1772-1848" - the anniversary.
