The reverse of the coin presents the wonderful image of Maria Skłodowska with her hand lifted, like if she were writing some equations on a black board. On the left of the reverse, the inscription: "MARIA SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE" – the name of the coin. On the top, the inscription: "1867-1934" – the date of birth and death of Marie. The obverse of the coin features a radial design like a shining sun and the inscriptions: "REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN" – the issue country, "500 FRANCS CFA" – the face value and "2017" – the issue year.
