The reverse of the coin portrays Icarus falling from the sky into the water, under the eyes of his father Daedalus. According to the myth, Icarus and Daedalus crafted wings made of feathers and wax to escape from the island of Crete. Icarus flew too close to the sun, which caused his wings to melt and Icarus fell into the water. The irregular shape of the coin makes the sea seem unusually rough. The gilding at the top of the coin is a symbol of the sun and features a Greek pattern and the inscription: "DAEDALUS AND ICARUS" – the name of the coin. The obverse of the coin shows the symbolic image of a labyrinth. At the bottom, an image of the rough sea. At the center of the reverse, the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and, all around, the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II" – the name of the Queen, "NIUE" - the country of issue, "5 DOLLARS" – the face value, "2021" – the year of issue ad "Ag 999" – the fineness of the Silver.
