The reverse of the coin depicts a lovely Chow Chow surrounded by beautiful decorations, as if it was going through the coin. On top of the reverse, the inscriptions: "2018" – the year of issue and "ANNEE DU CHIEN" – year of the dog in French. The obverse of the coin illustrates the Chinese culture by presenting all the animals of the lunar calendar. They are disseminated on a screen surrounding a traditional door. The obverse also presents the inscriptions: "CALENDRIER CHINOIS" – Chinese Calendar in French and "20 EURO" - the face value.
