The reverse of the coin coin represents the head of Pharaoh on the body of a lion and is the earthly incarnation of the sun God with the inscription "1822 2022", referring to the 200th Anniversary of the deciphering of hieroglyphs. The monster with the royal face, protects eternal life after death and is also the immortal guardian of sacred places. The sphinx is about six feet tall and almost five metres long, it was found in 1825 in the ruins of the Temple of Amun-Ra in Tanis, the capital of Egypt during the XXI and XXII dynasties. According to archaeologists, certain details suggest that it dates back to the Old Kingdom (2600 BC), although it is almost impossible to date the statue with certainty because the legible inscriptions are all usurped, meaning that many Pharaohs appropriated the statue's authorship. The obverse of the coin depicts the God Amun watching over the young Tutankhamun and many Egyptian hieroglyphics and the inscription: "50 EURO" – the face value.
