The reverse of the coin features the 3 mathematicians Ludolph Van Ceulen, Archimedes and William Oughtered, who made significant contributions to the calculation of the number Pi. In the background of the coin's reverse there are numbers. All around the reverse of the coin, the inscriptions: "Ludolph Van Ceulen- Archimedes - William Oughtered" - the three mathematicians, "π" - the greek symbol of the number pi and "3.14" - the face value. The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
