The reverse of the coin depicts three bees approaching some flowers, from where they get nourishment. At the top of the reverse, some bees in a beehive, presenting the particular honeycomb texture and the inscription: "HONEY BEE" – the name of the coin. Australia is home to around 2,000 native bees and until 200 years ago did not have any native honey bees. The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II" – the name of the Queen, "NIUE 2022" – the country and the year of issue, "ONE DOLLAR" – the face value and "1 OZ 999 SILVER" – the weight and the fineness of the Silver.
