The reverse of the coin depicts the 12 lunar animals in colour. Starting from the top and moving counterclockwise: the mouse, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. Included in the artistry are representations of sacred mountains, clouds symbolising good fortune, and plants including bamboo, daisies, sunflowers, peonies and pine trees, longstanding floral motifs in traditional Chinese art. The lunar animals surround a bagua, a motif incorporating eight Taoist trigrams representing the yin and yang present in all things. It also includes a taijitu, a black and white symbol that denotes the interdependence of yin and yang energy. The obverse of the coin portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: "QUEEN ELIZABETH II" – the name of the Queen, "5 DOLLARS" – the face value, "TUVALU" – the issue country, "2022" – the year of issue and "5OZ 9999 SILVER" – the weight of the coin and the fineness of the Silver.
