The reverse of the coin depicts a kraken, a mythical sea monster typically depicted as a giant octopus or squid, which is using its massive tentacles to ensnare a vessel and drag it beneath the waves. On the top of the reverse, the inscriptions: "THE KRAKEN" - the name of the coin. All around the obverse, different kinds of sea monsters. In the center of the obverse, the Public Seal of Niue surrounded by a ship rudder with the inscriptions: "NIUE" – the country of issue, "FIVE DOLLARS" – the face value, "2023" – the year of issue and "2oz 999 SILVER" – the weight and the fineness of the Silver.
