CRAIGDARROCH CASTLE Stained Glass 1oz Silver Coin 20$ Canada 2014

Most of the surface of this coin is covered in translucent glass-like enamel, making the coin shine and reflect light. The enamel, filling individual sections of the coin, is filled by hand to represent the stained glass panels from the window. The reverse image features a stunning colour partial reproduction of one of the stained glass windows that adorn Craigdarroch Castle in Victoria, B.C. The focal point of the design is the grouping of six brightly coloured flowers; each petal has been filled by hand with blue, purple and red translucent enamel to recreate a stained glass effect. Green translucent enamel has been applied to the veined leaves. The original window's diverging brick pattern has been replicated to fill the reverse image background. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
