The reverse of the coin presents the design by Canadian artist Margaret Best, featuring a world of carefully cultivated beauty beyond the gate that stretches from rim to rim. This ornamental gate closely resembles the main gates of the Halifax Public Gardens, whose ornate scrollwork has been carefully adapted to retain its century-old aesthetic on a smaller scale, without sacrificing the element's durability. Paint gives the metalwork an appropriately weathered look; behind it, a full colour image invites the viewer to let their eyes and imagination wander towards the colourful flowerbeds, shrubs and trees, or the often-photographed bandstand that is at the very heart of this National Historic Site of Canada. On top of the reverse, the inscription: "CANADA" – the issuing country. The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by beautiful maple leaves and the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II" – the name of the Queen, "2018" – the year of issue, "D·G·REGINA" – Dei Gratia Regina and "30 DOLLARS" – the face value.
