The reverse of the coin features the 1947 five-cent circulation coin, a beaver in the centre of the reverse and the maple leafs, added for the first time on canadian coins, at the beginning of 1948. The reverse of the coin also incorporates the inscriptions: "5 CENTS" – the face value and "CANADA 1947" – the country of issue and the date of the first 5-cent circulation coin. The obverse of the coin features the Effigy of His Majesty King George VI and the inscriptions: "GEORGIUS VI" – the name of the King, "D-G-REX" and "ET IND: IMP" – the acronym of "Emperor of India".
