Description

The reverse of the coin depicts Luke Skywalker and Princess Leila. Protagonists in the original trilogy. He is portrayed as a young, farm boy from Tatooine who discovers that he is the son of Anakin Skywalker, also known as Darth Vader. Luke is mentored by Obi-Wan Kenobi and later by Yoda, learning to harness the Force and becoming a skilled Jedi. He is compassionate, determined, and fights for the Rebellion against the tyranny of the Galactic Empire. The obverse of the coin features the Effigy of His Majesty King Charles III and the inscriptions: "CHARLES III" – the name of the King, "D·G·REX·F·D" – the Latin acronym that stands for: Dei Gratia Rex Fidei Defensor, "50 PENCE" – the face value and "2023" – the year of issue.
