The reverse side of the coin features the outline of a magnificent rooster, accompanied by blooms of rosy Celosia cristata. The Celosia cristata, or cockscomb as is commonly called, is a hardy flower that grows equally well both indoors and outdoors, displaying its resilient and resourceful nature, just as how the people born in the Year of the Rooster are said to be like. The name cockscomb was given to this flower due to its similarity to the comb of the rooster. On the top of the coin, the chinese words and symbols for rooster, on the bottom, the issue country: "Macau, China". In the center of the reverse, the face value: "100 Patacas" and the issue year: "2017". The obverse of the coin depicts the St Dominic's Church.
