Celebrate the Year of the Ox with Power Coin: 8 lucky Silver and Gold Coins

Welcome back to our Blog!

The Chinese Zodiac, known as Sheng Xiao, is based on a 12-year cycle calculated according to the Chinese lunar calendar and refers to several animal signs. The origin of the Chinese zodiac is told by many legends and although it may seem strange to you, these stories also explain the birth of disagreements between ... cats and mice.

The best-known legend is known as "the great race". The Jade Emperor, needing twelve animals as palace guards, decided to summon them, assigning the task to the first ones who would show up. The designated route involved crossing a river, but the cat and mouse were good swimmers. So, they decided to get on the back of the ox, in order to be transported without too much effort. The mouse betrayed the cat, causing it to fall into the water and losing all hope of arriving in time.

With this stratagem the mouse managed to arrive first at the appointment, followed by the ox of course. The order of arrival determined the position of the animals within the Chinese zodiac and, consequently, the exact sequence with which you go from one sign to another.

On February 12, 2021 begins the New Year of the Ox and Power Coin invites you to celebrate it together with a selection of 8 lucky coins.

The lucky selection: One banknote, six Silver and one Gold coins.

The first coins are made by CIT. The first is a Silver foil banknote and the second is a magnificent art-work made of Silver:

The Togrog 100 banknote, issued by Mongolia, features a beautiful stylized ox decorated with flowers against a background of Chinese astrological icons and native trees. It is part of a beautiful series dedicated to the Chinese Zodiac, with a tasteful style that we also find in the Ox-shaped Silver coin. Let's talk about the beautiful MIGHTY OX, 1 Ounce Silver coin in Antique Finish and minted by Mongolia with face value of 1000 Togrog. The "power" of this coin is due to its 3D shape that, made thanks to the Smartminting technology, gives us a sculpture with "Scroll Art" style engravings.

The "Scroll Art" style has also been used in this coin with minted by Fiji and face value of 10 Dollars:

Here the Ox, finished in a very stylized Asian style and Gold-plated, has been enriched with a real Deep Blue Freshwater Pearl. The rest of the coin is minted with floral designs and decorations.

The fourth coin we present is different. Minted by the Cameroon with issue year 2021 and face value of 500 Francs:

Here the Ox, completely plated in Gold, contrasts with the Ruthenium plating, the dominant black color of the coin. A red Swarovski adorns and praises the coin. The style here is more modern and represents the first coin in a long series dedicated to the Chinese Zodiac.

Still under the effigy of the Cameroon, but with an even more modern style, we find the "Time to Win" with face value of 1000 Francs:

The style is decidedly more modern and aimed towards that world of investment that well committing the Ox Gold plating and the Silver 999 of the coin. The ox is more represented as a bull in the act of attacking. An iconic image in a ruthless world: the business world!

The Style of the coins with Jade and Mother of Pearl are different and more classic:

In the first of the two coins the Ox is completely plated in Gold and placed in the center of a ring of pure Jade, an element that recalls Chinese history, with inscriptions in Gold. The flavor of the coin is oriental and is issued by Laos with a face value of 2000 Kip. The 8 figures of oxen that adorn this precious 3 ounces Silver coin, recall the luckiest number of Chinese culture!

In the second one, issued by the Cook Islands, the Ox is completely carved with Mother of Pearl. This makes the coin extremely precious. In addition to its Silver weight of 5 Ounces and face value of 25 Dollars, each coin can be considered a unique piece.

We conclude this small review with a coin made entirely in Gold:

The Perth Mint presented its most prestigious version dedicated to the Ox in Gold .999 weighing 1 Ounce with Proof quality and with a face value of 100 Dollars. Coined in only 1000 pieces, it is the most exclusive coin of the Mint.

The reverse of the coin depicts a stylized representation of an ox among the stems of bamboo that directs its gaze towards the future, for the appointment with 2021.
