Zhao Gongming Review: Asian Mythology - 3 Oz Silver Coin - Cook Island 2021

Posté sur3 Années auparavant 2779

Hello Friends! Welcome to the first article of November!

Do you know what means? It means that we are getting closer to the Holiday Season (my favorite)! I have already started writing down my gift list, what about you? I think you should do the same and you should write your own name on that list as well, because you deserve some presents too!

If you know someone passionate about Asian Culture, or if you simply want to make a great present to a friend or to yourself, I have an amazing gift idea for you!

Zhao Gongming

Zhao Gongming is the second issue in the Asian Mythology series and is dedicated to Zhao Gongming, the god of wealth in Chinese folk religion.

Zhao Gongming was a Taoist hermit with magical powers. He withdrew to Mount Zhongnan in Northwest China, where he practised Tao and achieved the highest state of spiritual enlightenment.

He was said to have the ability to control thunder and lightning and generate wealth and treasure. He is often represented holding a rod and riding a black tiger.

The Reverse

Zhao Gongming has been represented on the reverse of an amazing 3 Oz Silver coin with a diameter of 50 mm.

He is depicted in High Relief as a pride man wearing his typical clothes and holding a gilded amphora and rod, two of his most famous symbols. The gilding makes a perfect association with the representation of this character, who is the god of wealth!

Unlike classic representations, Zhao Gongming is not represented riding a black tiger, however the tiger is still present on this coin and completes an already striking design.

The Obverse

The obverse of the coin is pretty simple, it features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II” – the name of the Queen, “20 DOLLARS” – the face value, “COOK ISLANDS” - the issuing country and “2021” – the year of issue.

The coin comes in a themed box featuring a classic representation of Zhao Gongming and is accompanied by the Certificate of Authenticity with all technical specifications.

The mintage is limited to only 333 pieces and it is selling very quickly, so make sure to order yours before it is sold out!

Stay tuned!
