Double Dragon and Double Phoenix & Lunar Lucky REVIEW

Posté sur3 Années auparavant 3695

Hello friends, Ilaria here, welcome back to Power Coin!

This week we have received a lot of amazing coins and I was having a hard time choosing which one to review for you, so I chose not to choose and today I will present you not just one, but two coins!

Double Dragon and Double Phoenix

Double Dragon and Double Phoenix is a 2 Oz Silver Antiqued Coin with a 40.69 mm diameter. It is not a very big coin, but it has a rich design, completed by an incredible High Relief and a sophisticated selective coloration.

At the center of the coin there is the Yin and Yang Symbol, embodying the concept that the universe is ruled through the balancing of opposing and complimentary principles and forces, just like the Dragon and the Phoenix on the coin.

In traditional Chinese culture, the Dragon symbolizes strength and power and the Phoenix is a symbol of peace and prosperity. These two mythical creatures also represent the emperor and the empress and, together, are a symbol of wedding bliss.

The obverse is pretty basic, it portrays Queen Elizabeth II and presents some inscriptions: “QUEEN ELIZABETH II” – the name of the Queen, “2 DOLLARS” – the face value, “TUVALU” – the issuing country, “2021” – the year of issue and “2 OZ 9999 SILVER” – the weight of the coin and the fineness of the Silver.

The coin comes in a themed package, accompanied by a Numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Only 888 pieces of this coin were minted! Note: this coin does not come in a capsule.

Open Your Door to Luck

The second coin that I want to present to you is kind of heavy (500 grams, about 17 oz)! The coin comes in a bright red box with inside a red case, shaped as a door. Knock Knock! When you open the “door”, you see this amazing coin with a 120 mm diameter (it is bigger than the palm of my hand!)

The coin has Antique Finish and shows the twelve signs of the Chinese Zodiac. Starting from the top and moving clockwise: Pig, Rat, Ox, Tiger (do not forget we will be entering the year of the Tiger next February), Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey (my sign), Rooster and Dog. What struck me is that the twelve signs are separate from each other, yet part of the same scene and presented in their natural habitat.

Are you ready for a surprise now? This coin has a hidden detail: the central part, shaped as a door, can be removed and leaves space to a bright red circle with the Chinese character for luck. Do you remember the name of this coin? “Open your door to luck”, they literally meant it!

The obverse of the coin is pretty rich as well, it presents the twelve Chinese Zodiac Signs and the Coat of Arms of Gibraltar with the the inscriptions: “GIBRALTAR” – the issuing country, “FIVE POUNDS” – the face value, “AG 999” – the fineness of the Silver AND “500g” – the weight of the coin.

The mintage of this coin is set to only 388 pieces! Do not miss it!

Do you like to collect small coins or big coins?

What is your favourite coin between these two?

Stay tuned and remember: Collect, Invest, Enjoy!
