WHY IS "RED BACK SPIDER" SILVER COIN SO FAMOUS?

Today I would like to write about a very famous coin: Red Back Spider, from the “Deadly & Dangerous” series.

First of all, let’s spend some words about the coin's series!
The “Deadly & Dangerous” series is one of the most famous series released in recent years, featuring the Red Back Spider, Shark, Octopus, Crocodile, Snake and Box Jellyfish.

Why is “Deadly & Dangerous” series so famous?

I think that the correct answer to this question could be found in the heavy promotion conducted by the the Perth Mint, that released 2000 Red Back Spiders into the Russian market in 2011 and, nowadays, the Red Back Spider is selling for between $1300 and $1800 US Dollars, a bit beyond many people’s budget for these type of coins.

How was “Red Back Spider” Silver Coin born?

It was 2006 when the Perth Mint struck one of the most popular coins of the past decade: the first in the well-known “Deadly & Dangerous” silver proof series, Red Back Spider. Struck from 1oz 99.9% silver, the realization of this coin was inspired by the 50th anniversary of Red-back Spider antivenom.
The coin was a real success: the 5.000 coins limited edition of the 2006 Red-Back Spider 1oz Silver Proof went sold out!

The Gold edition

Since the big success of this silver coin, it has been remade in a gold version: 1 Oz Gold coin that depicts the Redback Spider, recognized by a spherical black body with a prominent red stripe on the upper side of the abdomen.
The reverse of the coin depicts the incredible colored image of a Redback Spider while stretching a spider web.
On the left of the reverse, the inscription: “RED-BACK SPIDER” – the name of the coin.
The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II” – the name of the Queen, “NIUE” – the issuing country, “2018” – the year of issue, “100 DOLLARS” – the face value and “1OZ 9999 GOLD” – the weight of the coin and the fineness of the Gold.

The coin has a beautiful coloration, has a Proof quality and comes in a case, along with the Certificate of Authenticity.
